I built myself a softbox for shooting. used a new printer box and vellum paper to construct it.

wow what a difference! easier to control the white balance in my shots.

I've been watching videos on night shooting since I want to take lots of outdoor Christmas lights pictures this year.

think we should have a separate thread for tips and pointers? or should we just post in this thread when we come across things we think might interest others?

I think you should create a separate thread. We can load it up with all sorts of info and tips, I know I've learned a bunch of stuff past couple weeks.

What's going on everyone? It's getting warm out, time to start snapping again!

Here's one from a few months ago in Ghana.

Didn't get to take many picture since they have strict rules against photographing a lot of public places. The one place I really wanted to take pics, the Elmina slave castle I brought the camera and left the battery charging... :mad

Chinks did you upgrade to full frame?

Tripple B!...how you doin?! How was Ghana?

Haven't upgraded yet, friend of mine went shooting couple Fridays ago...he was telling me about mirrorless cameras and wanted me to read some info and check it out before I make the full frame purchase.

Told him I would, but in my heart of hearts..I'm a Canon girl. lol I'll post couple of photos when I get home later.

Ghana was awesome, the friendliest people I've met and the country has such a rich history especially for us Caribbeaners. Planning more trips to Africa in the near future. Ghana again, Tanzania, Rwanda...

I have no idea what mirorless is or the benefits

Really nice work guys. 'til I'm on vakay at the end of the month, I can't focus long enough to do any practice work to post.

I haven't found my "eye" yet. :(

My heart is one of a gypsy (love to travel), so maybe landscape is my thing...but at this point, I have no idea. I've been researching portrait lenses, want to learn how to shoot people.

Chinks - I have an article saved to Pocket about mirrorless cameras but I have NO idea what that truly means. lol guess I need to read the article :)

Triple B - nice to see you again :eek:k: Too bad about you forgetting the battery Luv!

Planning to buy a new lens this summer. Again, just need work to ease off so I can make a rational, informed decision and not a snap one cause I am distracted....them lens are damn expensive to screw up on :kicks

I dont remember if you said so or not, but do you use your kit lens for landscaping or do you have another lens you use?

My favourite shots are usually of people in different parts of the world but I never see myself as being able/comfortable doing it. So hats off to you Chinks for learning how to shoot people.

Yeah, I do. My sensor is cropped (1.6), that's why I really want to invest in a full frame. Won't have do all this multiplication in my head.

I am currently looking at 50mm 1.4, comes out to a 80mm on my current body..which is good for portraits.

gotcha.

given how much math I do for work you'd think I was comfortable with all the calculations for photography but instead I nash my teeth about it. lol

I think one of the lens I have saved to research is a 50mm 1.4. I have to check my notes. Let me know what you decide on since you have a Canon as well.

In the second picture did you zoom the lens while taking the shot?

I'm the same, don't care too much for people photography but when I see some work I want to replicate it. Like Emily Soto... so much so I bought a Mola Setti
