Hey Guys....

The first of the month is this coming Friday. The rules are, we will post one photograph a week. The photos should be posted every Monday; this gives you the entire weekend to capture something..anything.

Please provide photo information: aperture and shutter speed, you can include ISO and focal length if you want. Also what you like about the photo.

As we get more into it, there will be themes at the suggeston of Tripple B.

I'm really excited...I hope you are as well. This means 1st photo should be posted Monday, 2/4/13.

LET'S START SHOOTING! :good:

what if i take a pic with my cellphone?
No, this is about getting into the understanding and use of actual cameras. If you have a point and shoot, set it to program mode and join the club.

I should also state...NO SHOOTING IN AUTO MODE! It would defeat the purpose of this project.

Know that the camera gods will be watching. :blind:

Shot a bunch of stuff and hated it, this was the least I disliked. lol Purposely underexposed to give off an eerie feel.

Underexposed? I thought that applied to or when developing film.

But of course it would be obvious I know nothing of photography...

I like the rustic feel of it. For some reason it evokes a western movie for me. :good:

The more I shoot, the more I realize the need to invest in a better lens. The kit lens that came with camera just isn't cutting it. I've been looking at prime lenses (Canon 24mm f/1.4). With my crop factor being 1.6 ..it comes out to like a 38 which is pretty good. Just don't want to lug around a tripod every where. And since 911...lots of places give me the "You can't use tripods in here"

This was a good idea:good: ...I'm already thinking about what to shoot next, now I'm rolling with my camera everywhere lol.

I didn't get the kit lens, bought the 18-200 right off the bat but I couldn't get those buttery backgrounds since it only went to 3.5f so decided to invest in the 50mm... its great and a pain at the same time. Sometimes I have a hard time focusing at 1.4

I meant to ask, how did your event go that you rented the flash for?

I'm glad you're liking this project...I want everyone to be and stay inspired :clapping:

50mm is sweet and the 1.4 can be sooo bokehlishcious.

I personally only liked about 3 or 4 pictures.lol But didn't beat up on myself too much, this was such a personal victory. Someone else had asked me to shoot their annual New Yrs. Eve party and I turned it down; beacuase I feared messing up.

When the opportunity came up again (this event)....I refused to give in to fear again and said I'm going to do this. I just know I have to work on people shooting (portraits).

Okay I'm a bit bored here so I remote connected into my desktop to post these pictures
I am going to post two pictures if you dont mind so you can see what I was trying to achieve. I like food photos that look like dark moody paintings, so the first one that is what I was trying to do with the lighting by my front door on the floor :kicks

I couldnt get what I was trying to do in my mind's eye so I brighten up the picture a bit.

I will have to post my manual setting when I get home since I dont have my camera with me now to record what they were.

This exercise taught me I really need a tripod. My hand shaked a couple of times and I cut off the bottom of the photos:

1st one trying to look like a painting:

Again, playing off the texture of the pear and the used cookie sheet colouring but I couldnt get the shallow depth of field I truly wanted.

2nd one with a faster shutter speed:
