The hooker booker accused of sending a high-priced prostitute to Gov. Spitzer's hotel room was a church-going honor student who graduated from a prestigious school.
Temeka Lewis' tragic fall into a life of sleaze has left her family heartbroken.
"Her mother is just all broken up," Lewis' 79-year-old uncle said Wednesday at the family's home in Harrisonburg, Va.
"She's just too clean," said the uncle, who asked not to be named. "Even when she does the dishes, she puts on gloves. It just don't make any sense."
"No one in the community can believe that this could happen to her. I can't remember her even getting a driving ticket.
"There just ain't nobody down here can believe it."
Only 11 years ago, Lewis graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in English language and literature, a school spokesman said.
"She was an honor student all her life; she's from a good church-going family," her uncle said. "It's just unbelievable."
Lewis, 32, was one of two bookers for expensive sex ring the Emperors Club VIP - and took Spitzer's call the day before Valentine's Day, authorities said.
In a conversation taped by the feds, Lewis set up the Washington tryst between Spitzer and "Kristen," a hooker Lewis described as "an American, petite, very pretty brunette, 5-feet-5 inches and 105 pounds."
"Great, okay, wonderful," Spitzer said, according to court papers that identified him as "Client 9."
Spitzer told Lewis he'd leave his hotel room door unlocked so Kristen could get inside. He also haggled over money with Lewis, settling on a $4,300 payment, according to the court papers.
Two steamy hours after Kristen - identified yesterday as 22-year-old Ashley Alexandra Dupré - walked into the Mayflower Hotel, she called Lewis to say her "date" was over. Spitzer left Kristen with the cash, the room for the night, cab fare and whatever she wanted from the minibar.
"Kristen said that she liked him and she did not think it was difficult," the affidavit said.
Lewis then told Kristen that Spitzer had a reputation with other girls. She said, "He would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe - I mean ... very basic things."
A former model who turned down a job as a booker with the Emperors Club said it was clear it was a prostitution ring. She said she was promised 10% of each booking, and was told she could work from home and would be given a cell phone and fax machine.
"I assumed that there was some sort of sexual activity involved," the woman told Fox News Channel 5. "I was freaked out."
Wednesday, Lewis was holed up in her Brooklyn apartment, refusing to speak to reporters. Her mother, Barbara, 61, and twin sister were believed to be with her.
