convicted for war crimes today. Just hearing this on the news.

sentencing at the end of May. Should be interesting to see how long of a sentence they will hand out and how/when this will be appealed before hand.

I've been watching this. These warlords should be sent back to their land of birth to rot in some prison that is below animal standards. Instead they get to live out dem days in some exiled country or a nice comfy prison like the Hague.

Interesting that while this was being perpetrated the world stood and watched.
All heads of states who had the power to do something and didn't during this period should be tried for complicity.

Charles Taylor to spend rest of life in British jail for Sierra Leone war crimes

Charles Taylor, the former Liberian president, will spend the rest of his life in a British prison to becoming the first former head of state to be jailed for war crimes, after his appeal was rejected.
Taylor, 65, will be jailed in Britain for 50 years, for arming and supporting rebels Liberia neighbour Sierra Leone during brutal 1990s civil war after United Nations judges threw out his legal challenge.
His appeal was rejected by Justice George Gelaga King, a Sierra Leone judge and president of the appeals chamber of the special UN tribunal set up to investigate crimes in his country, in a judgment summary that took one hour and 15 minutes to read out.
"The defence has failed to demonstrate an error of sentencing," he said. "The sentence is fair and reasonable in the light of the totality of the circumstances."
He will serve his sentence in Britain where he is expected to be a “category A” inmate fit only for a maximum-security prison. If so, the cost to the British taxpayer will be up to £60,000 per year.
Asking Taylor to rise, Justice Gelaga King said: "The appeal chamber upholds the original 50 years of imprisonment imposed by the trial, orders this judgement should be enforced immediately."........
