It depends on how the individual views themselves. If, you have West Indian parents but were born in America, but you identify yourself as West Indian, I can't tell you that you're wrong. If you were born in America and identify as being American although you have West Indian parents, I can't tell you that you're wrong.

well actually u are who ur father is.
So ur mothers parents and ting have nothing to do with it.
But aside from all the nationality thing one who claims to be a Bajan for example and they were born lets say in Canada. Is only claiming Bajan cause they like that vibe. If not then y stop at Barbados y not go back to where u can trace ur forefathers back to

DID I just make any sense?

Depends on who classifying you, if you classifyin yaself, its all about who or what you identify yourself with more, if you identify yaself more as a lucian, then ya consider yaself a lucian, if ya identify more with the american culture, ya american

Here we go again with another 22 page thread. :rolleyes
Yo, you are where you were born at. Simple as that! What you choose to identify with is fine and is up to you. What you choose to identify with can change depending on who you meet, where you decide to live, and just plain old whatever the hell you want to do. Hell you can identify with the fackin Marshians if yuh want, but if yuh born in Jamaica, then you is a Jamaican.
Get it, got it, good!

Soca out!

Dats a very interesting statement, cause if I'm not mistaken, Biblically you are what your MOTHER is...not your father.

Check it to make sure.

Me personally, BOTH of my parents were born and raised in Aruba, and I was just born dere.

They moved to St. Maarten when I was one, so that's where I was raised.

Am I Arubian or St. Maartener?

When I was a young boy I used to like to claim Aruba, just to be different, but really I from St. Maarten, I only been back to Aruba once at the age of 10...for a funeral...and dat was it.

Can I pick up myself and go to Aruba and claim my citizenship anytime I please? Yep...cause dats where I was born and have roots.

Will I? Most likely not, I know NOTHING of there.

I'm a St. Maartener.

I think it has to do with more of where and how you were raised.

Just my 2.
