Lightbulb one more, from within Judaism:

...it is humility that makes us teachable. Conceit builds a wall around our brains...All knowledge begins with humility.

Actually, you are wrong. I have been to the Islands and I have spoken to many people. I have heard of discrimination by certain sectors in Antigua, for example. Or the standofish attitude of many tourists, like they are better, etc. And as some mentioned discrimination for jobs in certain sectors. That still does not constitute the same level as racism in the USA. There is no apartheid where the majority is secluded, nor are Afrodiasporic people the minority where all media depicts otherness. Some islands like the DR probably are the exception. Historical misrepresentation is another big issue. But those are not direct discrimination which I am talking about. If it is so bad on the islands, except for places like Trinidad, where there is another huge ethnicity and conflict occurs, where are the personla experiences of discrimination people have had? Everyone answers that it is bad and I just don't know. SO feel free to actually describe personal experiences.

More like I opened this thread to challenge the hypocrisy of many that think they are the only ones who have had discrimiantion, and somehow their blackness means they can say no other person can talk about discrimination and others cannot relate in any way, EVEN when talking about issues that aren't even of the Islands. So unless they actually lived most their lives or at least a good chunk, vacations in the UK and the US do not count as major exposure to racism that makes them so qualified to tell others they know nothing on the subject because of their skin color.

Naw I don't think so. I don't go shoving my experiences around all over the place. In fact i rarely mention them. But after hearing enough crackpots who claim they are the know it alls of discrimination based on slin color, I started this thread.
I sick of idiots claiming that because I look Euro, I somehow has some cushy life.

Oh, I connect with a few people on here, many by email or IM. Just most people don't like arguing with the extremists on these boards that backslap each other like a bunch of school kids.
hmmm - i question where these so called friends are now and why they have not supported you in this thread or come to your defense? it seems like you are only defensive and defending in your responses to me and ot others, but what is lacking is any form of responsibility. i'm sorry i wasted my time replying.

LOL. Why would they waste their time defending me and alienate themselves from others? I don't need them to do that. I am happy that they let me know their opinions. That is all.

thats a cop-out by that way.....a seat on the fence...

in any event, I understand your POV to some extent....I just wish you wouldnt compare in such a broad sense..I dont think any of us in the Caribbean were lynched (lately) like in the US, nor stabbed and robbed by wild indians in Peru, but we have our share of discriminatory behavior. Some actions are specific to locale...
