Is it because men are generally less dependant on social support and generally more decisive with their choices why they are more susceptible to make a hasty decision like to commit suicide when depressed?...

Don't know.. but the humungous gaps between male and female suicide-rates worldwide are just befuddling.

What do you think is the cause for this gap?

I read else where is not that they less likely to commit suicide but they are less likely to succeed.. a man will blow his head, a jump from a building, a woman slit her wrisks or take pills then call 911

Women chat nuff to friends and family, while men keep everything bottled up until they finally explode. Women tell their girlfriends almost everything. Men don't talk about their problems.

women just need to do the deed right. They should learn a thing or 2 from the men

wouldn't committing suicide constitute being successful at it

so the whole less likely to succeed thing...i see ur angle but i dont think it explains away enough

See re wording of Oneshot's statement.

Because they are more likely to cause someone to commit suicide.

A generalization, never the less, it does make some sense.

Women don't stress they selves out by keeping everything that bothering them inside, they talk to family, friends, just about anyone that will listen. yadda yadda. While men, well I can't speak for them.
