Who are your historians?
On Imix there are always discussions about who did what first and yadda yadda. Many of us end up not knowing who is right or wrong. I would like to know which leads me to pose to questions to you.
Who are your historians for your country? What books exist that are historically factual that pertains to your country?. From time to time I read a book: Towns and Villages of Trinidad and Tobago by Michael Anthony. Here is a little tidbit on Port of Spain: It was originally referred to as Puerto de los Hispanioles (Port of the Spaniards). Last edited by TriniTrini; 10-14-2007 at 02:09 PM. |

I never knew about that book. I will have to get it since I would like to know about the Chinese in Trinidad. Thanks for the book title and ISBN. I still have much, much, much reading to do in regards to their books. I rhell lapsing. Thanks for recommending them. I am still curious about the Historians that can be found within each island or country. The current historians who document the people and changes that go on within their country. I have a feeling it might be a group of people or organization. Last edited by TriniTrini; 11-15-2007 at 08:11 AM. |

There are hundreds and thousands of books in Trinidad. UWI library has fllors and floors of books, articles, theses etc. So does the National Library.
People have been graduating since forever with Ph.D's on various aspects of T&T's history. Just link UWI or NALIS and you will find what you require. |

T&T history is something I am working on learning everyday. I am also trying to say: I also want to learn about the other islands in regards to their history. What makes each island the way they are. Their traditions and culture. This knowledge will improve my converstations with other islands. And some of my other goals. But one thing besides going to the UWI library for T&T history, your suggestion gave me a wonderful idea: since I can't really find much in the bookstores here on the islands, I should surely find a lot at the UWI in Trinidad and Jamaica in articles and books. All I have to do now is travel. |
