GIANT has a new editor-in-chief...(drumroll please)....AMERICA magazine's founder/EIC Smokey Fontaine!
ESSENCE has a new senior health and relationships editor. V LIFE will cease publication immediately. Lifestyle magazine SWAY launched last December reflecting the interests of "Canada's diverse community of African and Caribbean Canadians." Articles report on news, finance, and fashion, and profiles prominent people. Publisher Chioma of Chioma Productions oversees the quarterly title. There was an initial distribution of 50,000 copies in the Toronto area. No word yet on how it fared on newsstands. MISSBEHAVE is all about the urban hip-hop culture, but the focus is on women this time. Expect coverage on the music, art, fashion and lifestyle scene for young, hip females. Mary Choi is editor-in-chief for this MASS APPEAL spin-off. Two issues are due out in 2006, with the debut in late June and the second in late October. Distribution will be nationwide on newsstands and in music and book stores with a projected initial circulation of 75,000 copies. An increase to six issues per year is planned for 2007. PLANET AFRICA is an urban lifestyle magazine aimed at 25- to 60-year-old Canadian professionals of African and Caribbean descent. Topics include lifestyle, entertainment, parenting, careers, finance, education, and business and personal success stories. The goal is "to unify and empower a divided black community." Fred Sherman is editor-in-chief of this quarterly publication from Silvertrust Communications. The Winter 2006 issue has debuted with an initial run of 10,000 copies. Distribution is across Canada? Time Warner's CEO Parsons was interviewed by BusinessWeek and said about the new newspaper supplement incarnation of LIFE: "We're certainly trying to find out if there's a future for it? We're trying to find a way to revivify the brand."? JOLIE, which is the French word for "pretty," is a lifestyle magazine for African American women. The second issue has just been published and editorial content includes beauty, wellness, celebrities and fashion, as well as input from editor-at-large Vivica A Fox. Alicia Marie Rivers is editor of this bi-monthly magazine published by Fabulush Inc. The website is http://www.jolielivepretty.com JEWEL , another lifestyle magzine tareting women of color also dropped their second issue two weeks ago with Regina Hall on the cover, to promote the soon-to-be-released Scary Movie 4. STITCH, the luxury insider fashion publication just launched their ninth issue with french supermodel Tasha Tillberg on the cover. Celebrity/fashion stylist Kithe Brewster, the mag's Fashion Director's shoots include a 100 page fashion story shot in Paris and a photo essay shot in Egypt. Be on the lookout for STITCH's sister publication STITCHED IN BLACK a luxury lifestyle publication for affluent people of color in the fall of '06. thanks SM. ![]() |
