What is the role of a man?

In terms of a man in the community, in the family, at work, etc.? How do you define your role as a man...and women...how do you see the traditional roles of what men are suppose to be compared to what the are now? Has anything changed?

well, women are taking better care of themselves and their business, instead of waiting for someone else to provide for them, and theirs, including their children...

GREAT Question!!!!

In the community, I feel as though men should be leaders even amongst men.

In the family, I see my role as a provider and protector of my family.

Work is relative because it purely meant as a means to provide for that said family.

The above stuff is waht I view as traditional.

In today's society, we're totally screwed by the world around us as well as by our own actions (I'm speaking for black men).

Well women do everything men do now a days so that's tuff to answer. Men are normally the breadwinners but not no more in some cases. The men should still be a good role models for the boys out there but some are failing at that. Plus being a black man our roles have gooten all f*ck up since the main thing about slavery was seperating man from family. It changed everything from then.

I'm glad you pointed that out...I was just going to mention that the black community has this tid bid engraved into their psyche....family unity seems to be a fad....men seem to be "temporary" for lack of a better word...even rentals..One person has a man, makes a baby...then he move on to the next. Even if he stays for a while it seems that more than 50% of the case, children are fathered out of wedlock...etc.
