It is kind of hard for me, because of what I am studying, and because my S.O. is in the military, to return to Trinidad and work. I really would like to live in different countries and work in those places, but spending some time in Trinidad every year is very feasible for me.
that's cool, but let me plant a seed into your head:

In the United States, if you talk to a lot of americans, it's only a small ammount of the population that leaves the country to see what's beyond these borders. Some choose not to leave, others are slaves to there jobs and lifestyles, while others simply don't have the money to do so.

We being children of caribbean descent have a unique situation since we are born of one or more cultures, while we live within another one. We can see things that people from this culture (or from our original cultures) might not be able to see because of there limited exposure due to there inability to travel. (or becuase they just don't care).

With this said, I truely beleive that there is PLENTY of opportunity to create businesses which could empower the forgotten people of Trinidad (and ANY island in the caribbean for that matter) to be apart of the change that is comming on so many different levels.

However, that's just ONE piece of the equation. If this empowerment within the caribbean can happen, then who'se to say we can't take it over to Africa? My reasoning behind this is if you look at the Indian population in TT, they have a very VERY strong connection to India as well as there heritage. I think we can use the same model of success and really create a way of living and a lifestyle that is truely comfortable and not something you have to look forward to retirement in order to enjoy!

I don't ever worry about the crime situation when I am in Trinidad. It's just not as bad in south trini I guess. But my biggest worry right now is the amount of factories they are putting in Point Fortin. We already have the LNG plant in the heart of Point, now they are building 2 smelter plants!!! One in La Brea, and one in the Chatham/Cedros area. I find the government too greedy and South people real suffering because of it.
