They are religious, however gang bangers wear them and get them blessed. It sickens me to see them take a religious thing and use it to their liking. But I guess that's life you might see things one way and another person might see it another way. It also upsets me to see religious stores selling it to gang bangers I guess they have the mentality out of sight our of mine, or they sell them to make a buck.

The tiny multi colored ones are used in Santeria as well as the Trinidad Orisha religion. However, gangs sometimes use those same beeds for their pwn purpose. But you are right I see a lot more older people wearing them more than ever. It's like what they use to be afraid of showing or proclaiming they wear it proudly now which is cool, but it upsets me when the gangs wear them and put them to their own use. But to each is own.

For the record Each color represents an Orisha. I can't really talk about what I don't know, just giving you information on what I do know

I can see the similarities in Santeria, Candomble and Orisha. One of my wishes is to go to Brazil and Cuba to observe each of the ceremonies. I know it's off topic...sorry.
