Question Pro-America: Are we Underindulging....

Alot of foreigners(even Us Caribbeans') Have a "I'm here to get what I Need and Go Back Home" Philosophy.

So in turn, some of us can careless about Community improvement, Politics, future Healthcare, etc. But, that Process of "Getting what I need, and Go" does take a couple of decades to accomplish that financial GOAL. In that time span Caribbean Chlidren are being birth on U.S. soil, and probably won't have that Philoshophy of their Folks when they reach adult age.

So shouldn't these Folks be more involved, because its their children that will probably spend their Life time here.

How wide spread do you think this "I can careless about America" attitude is in the Caribbean community?

Talking nice post

i really dont think that majority of west indians who migrate to the US really think about moving back or if so, thats after they retire and see no reason to remain here.
i think people are more focused on coming to america and reaping all the benefits possible.
they see no ownership to this country, no historical or cultural ties..
their main focus is to accomplish a goal that was probably not as feasible in their country.
with that, little or no attention is placed on social affairs, like youve listed..community development, politics, etc.
this is where the downfall lies.
becuz every year west indians migrate to the US, more and more they are filling cities that once belonged to the first immigrants to the US.
those same groups who saw the necessity to be involved in community development and local politics for their future generations... and where are they now...
..so getting back to your initial statement...
yes..west indians need to see the big picture..
for those who remain here and those who decide not too ..
the impact of west indian immigrants in this country will be greater than we can imagine in the next 10 years...

Hey, it should be obvious to anyone that if you intend to spend much of your adulthood in a country that you should excersise all your rights to improve or voice your concerns on issues concerning you and your community.
