Qualified candidates will have: minimum 4 years previous book publicity experience and a well-rounded knowledge of trade and general media. Strong pitching techniques and ability to generate creative media hooks also required. The candidate will develop and execute publicity plans for a variety of books per season, including picture books, middle grade, and YA, etc. and will be responsible for executing multi-city author tours and publicity campaigns. The candidate should be comfortable dealing one-on-one with authors and editors; writing pitch letters, press releases, and other press materials; and have extensive media contacts on both the local and national level. Position requires excellent written and verbal skills. Individual must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, have the ability to multi-task, and be able to travel to author and industry related events. Additionally, candidates must be able to work in a collaborative environment and have a personable enthusiastic manner to interact with authors, the press, and other colleagues.
