ID cards taken too far?

the home office has decided that people ID cards will become more 'futuristic'; they will now have your finger prints and something like an eye scan (for lack of a better word). Will the next step will be placing a chip in my arm and being able to tell my wherabouts every minute of the day? I personally think this is a little too Star Trek to be true, and the prices we have to pay for this is incredible. We definitely need to slow down a little in terms of technology.

Although identity fraud is a problem, I'm sure there are ways to combat it without going to that extreme. If I were Ms. Muzik I'd be very concerned with my company wanting to scan my eyes and fingerprint me for "positive" identification or access to my workspace. I personally just have major issues about my privacy and I don't like being treated like a criminal if I'm not one. Sometimes there is such a thing as wanting too much information and these big brother tactics definitely apply.

from a person like myself who is in2 technology, i think it will become a standard whether u guys like it or not. time waits 4 no1 and neither does technology. now of course there r the worries of a privacy issue, but it'll come 2 pass. most of the ppl on the net when it started were scared 2 go on it and now there whole life sits on it (i.e. e-mails, on-line banking and various personal info.). even a simple 'un-connected' pc at home can be tracked easily.

and 4 the record it is currently available to have a chip inserted in u'r arm and ppl know of u'r whereabouts. MIT did it a year and change ago (posted it back then). security will alwayz be an issue and its not just from a technological standpoint. the most we can do is be fully educated and aware of what is to come.
