It started as a reward given to waiters for good service, over the years it has evolved into an automatic charge that comes with your meal. The sudden rise in gratuity charges seem to have a direct correlation with the decline in customer services. Waiter these day are just plan horrible, you will be lucky if u seem the more that 3 times the entire time u are in the restaurant. I am sorry i go to a restaurant to eat not to directly pay waiters that is the restaurant owner job. I have nothing against tipping but don't just put it on my tab, please leave that option up too me.
