Cochran represents family in deadly police raid
The family of a Harlem woman who died of an apparent heart attack during a botched police raid plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the city. Alberta Spruill's family has retained attorney Johnnie Cochran, who is expected to announce details of the suit on Thursday. In addition to monetary damages, Spruill's family will reportedly seek changes to NYPD policy. Spruill, 57, went into cardiac arrest last week when police officers serving a “no-knock” warrant broke into her Harlem apartment, detonated a flash grenade and handcuffed her. She died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. I definitely think that the NYPD is responsible for this. Someone has to feel the backlash at the dept.....but I know some law or crack in the system will clear the officers of any fault. What are your thoughts?? click here for the whole story |
