It is a multifaceted issue. Many of the youth are definitely negatively influenced by the U.S. media. As Maximus tune "World Unite" says, people should be careful of the words they write, songs they hype etc because young people are very impressionable. At the same time, every young person has a conscience and chooses their actions. Much of the bad decision making also has much to do with the deterioration of the family structure and children not receiving a solid upbringing, preparing them for the decisions they will be faced with in life.

These days too many people do not want to take any responsibility for their actions or lack of action - from adults down to the youth, media to teachers, to parents and relatives etc. It is evident in so many areas of our society. Truth be told, we should all hold ourselves responsible for the influences we have on others - especially on young people. Setting a good example goes a very long way.

The parents who let the youths do what they want, the crooked government and the the white collar criminals who finance the ghetto criminals.

Don't blame a country 4 the problems thats going in TnT, blame the parents who want 2 b naive when they find out that their child is causing trouble.

I doubt it. If dey was no american influence... would those kids choose de path dat dey do? Are those kids listenin and lookin reggae/dancehall or soca videos/music, etc? These are the questions dat should be asked... I won't be quick to blame "all that shit" from America.

Yeah dont blame America......Look at the type of crimes i here about in Trinidad.....Kidnappings and Bombings.... These types of crimes are rarely ever portrayed in gangsta rap. I never heard 50 cents say in any of his songs " i will kidnap your kids and put a bomb in your store if you dont pay me ransom money"

True. However to a certain extent the influences of most rappers -such as 50 cent - do have an effect on the young people imo.

These rappers promote a certain lifestyle - fast expensive cars/rims, females (and not in those words) expensive clothes, huge houses etc - a culture of materialism. Then a number of young people -especially young men- feel that these things will make them a bigger and better person.

So for some, if they have to kidnap someone and demand ransom money to get the money for these things, they will. If they have to rob someone in order to get the money to live that way, they will. Get money fast, live fast...and all to often die fast.

Thats messed up in truth. All that Oil trinidad have and they have crime so. Its kinda dumb.
