81-Year-Old Woman Stuck In Bathtub For Days
POSTED: 1:48 pm CDT May 21, 2008 CEDARBURG, Wis. -- An 81-year-old Cedarburg woman is recovering after being trapped in her own bathtub. Police said she was stuck there for days. Police said she didn't pick up when her daughter called, so the daughter called police and a rescue squad helped the woman out and took her to the hospital. The Ozaukee Aging and Disabilities Center suggested using alert necklaces "Once the button is pushed, an operator will come on the phone system and say, 'Mrs. Jones, you hit your button, do you need help? Are you OK?'" said Michelle Pike of Ozaukee Aging and Disabilities Center. But she said there's no replacement for checking in on a neighbor. "I don't think they'll think you're being nosy. I think they'll be reassured that someone is looking out for them and noticing when they are not around," Pike said. Basic service for an alert necklace averages around $35 a month. 81-Year-Old Woman Stuck In Bathtub For Days - Milwaukee News Story - WISN Milwaukee |
