i must say i prefer macaroni and cheese (if it is done right)..and only my mama does it right.....over the pie, although the pie is very tasty

southern way take a little longer cause you have to make the cheese sauce and get it to thicken (with flour but I prefer cornstarch) before you pour into the casserole...also I use elbow macaroni and regular milk, butter & black pepper

when I make it that Trinidadian way I tend to use the longer macaroni noodles add minced onion and scotch bonnett and use evaporated milk

either way both are very good

I also make very good potato salad (southern and trini)- I eagerly await yuh next thread

Their mac and cheese is more along the lines of Kraft and Velveeta processed cheeses. Disgusting.

Ya'll mad. Mac n cheese is crazy good. Mac pie, the name doesnt make sence to me so I don't deal with it.

yeah does be watery at times and yuh doh taste dat sharp cheesiness.........plus we does add more ingredients to give it more bang.......carrots, onions, celery, etc

maybe someone could help me out. How different is macaroni pie from Macaroni au gratin Haitian style? We use longer noodles, pramesian cheese, evaporated milk, onions, sometimes carrots, and sometimes ham.

ETA: Interesting though, VI people eat macaroni pie but nuff of them call it macaroni & cheese.

I was once on visit to Alabama and I must say, I didn't want to leave just because the food was SO good at almost every restaurant I dined. I don't know what they put in their recipes.
