NEILSVILLE, Wis. - The call came into the 911 dispatcher: "I don't want to hurt anybody. I'm drunk." And with that, Mary Strey, 49, of Granton, reported herself as a drunken driver about three miles northeast of Neilsville in central Wisconsin.

Clark County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jim Backus said Monday that Strey's call on Oct. 24 led deputies to cite her for misdemeanor drunken driving with a blood-alcohol level double the legal limit to drive. She makes her first court appearance Dec. 10.

Backus said drunken drivers reporting themselves is rare.
In the 911 call, Strey said she wanted to report a drunken driver and the dispatcher asked if she was behind the suspect vehicle. "I am them," Strey said. She then followed the dispatcher's advice to pull over and turn on her flashers, telling him she had been "drinking all night long."

They arrested her I heard. Which I felt they shouldnt have.

I agree they could have least give her warning and tek her home.

Maybe they'll drop the charges. At least she became responsible in the end and reported herself unlike jackasses who would rather pile a bunch of kids into their car and drive like animals.

I don't see why this has to do with women being that there are male drunk drivers wreaking havoc just as badly, this problem is too serious.

Why not just go to a corner, put your keys underneath the car then go in the backseat and go to sleep.

I don't think she would want to risk the chance of getting attacked in some form or fashion.

And whats her reasoning for calling 911 instead of a cab?

She was drunk, I'm glad she had at least a little more reasoning than someone who would just get behind the wheel and possibly kill somebody.

They'll let her off.

So alyuh can't handle your alcohol, Don't drink if you know you gon do something stupid.

The reason this is so bizarre and retarded is not because its a woman... but nobody finds it strange that she had enough sense to call 911 and report herself, yet didnt have enough sense to also pull over and not drive?!

why not? she still committed a crime by driving drunk. if you murder someone but confess.. you dont think you should be held accountable?
