yall r pathetic and predicatable, i find the bajans wrong for this but thts just MHO
Why are you calling my name? I posted on another matter just two days ago. I think Bolt should withdraw his name, they reacted the same way when they heard a sandals resort was being built in their country, leave these people alone and just let then be, do we really need each other? Our leaders keep trying to stuff the Caribbean unity thing down our throats.

In an ideal world one would think that it doesn't matter.....but the world and in this case the caribbean is not ideal and as small as these islands are, including jamaica, they insist upon being distinct. Given the intense nationality you find out there it probably should be named after a bajan.

I think we relate better in individual circumstances than as a group...and this is not just a small island thing at all....i think its all islands. Jamaicans don't want any island (TnT) owning anything in yard......much less them naming any thing after someone from another island.

How many things in France are named after Germans? How many things in Italy are named after Spaniards? They're more politically integrated than we are by far and yet still retain a sense of national pride and independent identities.

    That's a good point

And It's like who is funding this ?

It's the UWI WHICH IS A collaboration of islands...

If Barbados was funding then it should be named after a bajan
There has to a deserving bajan

If he is not much of a Bajan, then Rihanna isn't much of a Bajan either. She does American music, mostly works and spends a lot of time in America, exclusively date american guys etc...

This isn't about Rihanna. This is about whether its appropriate to build a sports complex and name it after a foreigner who competes with your own athletes. If I was a Bajan student or citizen, why would I pay tuition money or tax money to attend an institution that honours foreign atheletes over native ones? ESPECIALLY considering Usain Bolt is still running and remains competition against sprinters throughout the region?

The Bajans finally got it right.
Instead of hate they decided to emulate.

Don't get what the hubbub is about. I posit that every stadium in the Caribbean be named after a Jamaican athlete.
It might inspire you little people to think BIG.

Don't know what is the point of this thread as I gather that the Bajans have decided to name the new sports complex at the university after Usain Bolt and they are not going to change their decision which to me shows their maturity as a small progressive Caribbean nation.

A few folks have decided to discuss the merits of the decision but how does that prove that smallies are any more silly than Jamaicans as a one of the paranoid yardies in this thread tried to argue?

Guess it’s another year and another opportunity for some yardies to assume their favourite victim role again for another 365 days.

Happy New Year everyone even though the victim mentality of some folks here continues the same as last year.
