Why does other Islands/countries from the region even bother to show up ?

Perennial winners Jamaica enter the third and final day of the 2010 Carifta Track and Field Championships at the Trueman Bodden Sports Complex in the Cayman Islands with 42 medals including 20 gold.

On Sunday, Jamaica increased its gold medal tally from six to 19 gold led by Chadrick DaCosta with a record throw of 16.99 metres in the boys under-17 shott putt.

DaCosta erased the previous mark of 16.63 metres.

Compatriot Kashif Ford took the silver with a throw of 16.32 metres.

Chanice Porter leapt 5.61 metres to win the under-17 girls long jump with teammate Opal James taking the silver with 5.47 metres.

Devon Dobson registered 4.20 metres to win the boys' pole vault open while Rochelle Farquharson in 12.54 metres, was second in the girls' triple jump open.

Ristanna Tracey struck gold in the under 20 girls 400 metre hurdles final clocking 58.58 seconds to win ahead of compatriot Danielle Dowie who clocked 59.09 seconds for second.

Shenel Francis in 42.51 seconds and Kimone Green 42.62 seconds took silver and bronze respectively in the under-17 girls 300 metre hurdles final.

Jenieve Russell secured the gold in the girls pentathlon open with 38.25 points while Ramone Bailey amassed 4,586 points to win the boys heptathlon open.

Alethia McLaughlin also mined gold in the girls 3,000 meter open with teammate Sharlene Nickel taking the silver.

Ashani Wright took gold in the under 20 boys' high jump with 1.98 metres while teammate Clive Pullen secured the bronze.

Jamaica also won all the sprint relays except for the under-20 girls who finished third behind Trinidad and Tobago in first place and the Bahamas in second.

    Total domination.
