It wasnt called the Egyptian empire but it had terrorities in Sudan and parts of the middle east. The power outside of Egypt varied from time to time but their influence was huge in Sudan Babylon, Mitanni etc. So much was this influence that many foreign kings married off their daughters to pharoahs. At the zenith of its power, Egypt were powerful enough to not return the favour in the same way.

Ashanti, Mali, songhai empires were basically the same people. But to answer the question, I think the Moorish/berbers empire had to be the greatest. If not, one of the most influential.

Which one would you say is the greatest.

P.S. Timbuktu was a part of many empies, but not an empire itself.

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Just Mali and Songhai, Ashanti is a different sect

All came out of Sudan(Western Sudan/Soudan) over time. Even Kemet/Egypt started as a colony of Sudan(Meroitic kingdom). Nobody does much archealogical digs in Khartoum or Dharfour areas though so there's alot of undiscovered/untouched ruins and tombs in Sudan and even in the western Sahara.

All that said and duly noted, Which empire was the greatest?

I said the moors because they basically took over parts of Europe as well as left a strong Islamic presence in sub Saharan Africa that still reigns dominant till this day.

Isn't it bad enough that all we know about these empires is what we've had to find out all on our own? There's always films/shows about Ancient Rome and the British Empire. I wish they'd make something about an African Empire.

Most films are historical fiction for entertainment purposes. Books and documentaries are more accurate although not 100%.

Of course they are but we can't deny the power films and shows have on our society. Especially for our youth. You cannot tell me the average teenage boy didn't want to be a spartan after 300 came out. And the fools didn't even win. We had warriors like that (and ours actually won). It just saddens me that we have stories that may never see the light of day commercially.
