    Thieves make off with hydrants

    Taken from the Trinidad Guardian.

Masked robbers stormed into the compound of an asphalt company in Fyzabad and tied up the watchman, before fleeing with thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

Among the items stolen were five fire hydrants.

Police said around 11.50 pm, Michael Patton, 51, was on guard duty at Ali Meah John Ltd, located at Siparia Old Road, Fyzabad, when he was accosted by two men brandishing cutlasses.

Police said the men tied up Patton with duct tape, before ransacking a stock room.

    They stole five hydrants,

the value of which was to be

    ascertained.

Police said the robbers loaded the hydrants onto a vehicle, before fleeing.

The type and model of the vehicle remain unknown. No arrests have been made.

PC Gupta of the Fyzabad Police Station is continuing investigations.

I thought the same thing, ecxept I don't think there's that viable a scrap metal market in Trinidad.
