Poll: Do you clap for the pilot after your plane lands?

A friend of mines just flew to Puerto Rico to visit family for the first time, and she was surprised that people clapped at the end of the flight. I was like "thats normal" but apparently they don't do that everywhere...

The convo reminded me of another friend of mines (Jamaican) who was riding megabus from boston to NY with three other Yardies & as soon as d bus driver pull into port authority they start applause lmao

Pilots are a bunch of lazy fat blowhards.

    Fock clapping for them.

I first experienced the clapping upon touchdown when I flew back
to Baltimore from Grenada via Puerto Rico several years ago. On
subsequent trips via PR I noticed the same thing. It seems to be
    a Puerto Rican thing.

Now when I fly to Puerto Rico with my wife whose family is from
PR I try to be the first to get the clapping started, much to her
    embarrassment.

wtf I never heard of anyone doing that and I'm ALWAYS traveling by plane. I just called my mother, who travels a lot too and she said sometimes that happens, but not all the time.

Plenty people do it or at least used to do it.

And places that are "fun" destinations like Mexico where lots of liquor is served on board. lol Flights to Mexico are worst than ones to JA. Those ppl are clapping and cheering.

only time I've seen it happen outside of flying to the West Indies is when there has been some bad turbulence and/or a tricky landing coming up and the pilot pulls it off nicely.
