    Pledge of Allegiance

How many of you actually stood up for this in school, or in certain occasions recite it?

Also what are your views on the line stated "One Nation under God"? do you think it has any significance? do you feel that it remain in there, or be taken out?
And lastly do you think people who are not religious should be subjected to say it?

keep in mind that this is an open question, nothing personal.

We had to recite it in school but I never did. I chose not to because I really do not believe in any of it. Is this country one nation under God? I don't think so. With all these disparities in medical care, school resources etc; with the top 5% of America owning 90% of the wealth being White males...With all the institutional racism that exists...With black men making up 70% of the prison population. There is definitely no liberty and justice for all. In reference to the other part of the question, I don't think people who are atheist or non-religious should be coerced to recite it if they don't believe in it.

Works for me..."One Nation under God" may not exist in some people's minds, but it's still a nice idea and something to wish for. There's a lot of dumb shit that we (sing) recite on a daily basis...do we ever question any of that? Nah...we'd rather politicize the "one nation" ideal.

I never pledged allegiance to USA. And going to a catholic school, this was a big deal. They tried to force me to raise my hand. So one morning I walking to class and the principal pulled me in the office and asked me to say the prayer and pledge of allegiance over the PA. Everyone in the school only holding they breath. I said the prayer and put the mic down and went about my business. And everyone in they class standing around like an ass!!! BWAHHHHHHH

I went to private school so we said it every morning... closely followed by Lift Every Voice And Sing. Every single morning...

    LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING
    Lift every voice and sing,
    Till earth and heaven ring,
    Ring with the harmonies of liberty;
    Let our rejoicing rise
    High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.

Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us

I will spare you guys the second verse.

    Stood up for it? Always

Recited it? Sometimes, but never really thought twice about it!

What do I feel about "one nation under god?" I'd much rather that than "one nation above the devil!" But why exactly did Congress add it to the pledge in 1954? Don't know off the top of my head!

Should anybody be forced to say it? Eh, eh!
