Pan was known as a low class thing in trinidad
dancehall reggae was known as a low class thing in jamaica.

Panists were looked down upon by the "decent folk in trini"
Dancehall artists were looked down upon by the decent folk in JA

Pan is now loved and accepted as a beautiful artform by most trinis

Dancehall reggae is slowly becoming more acceptable uptown in Jamaica.

they are both a way out of the ghetto for poor people in their respective countries.

kinda.....im not sure but based on your reply i would say that pan was invented in Lavanty wich is probably a ghetto area of Trini. Dancehall was created in the Jamaican equivalent.
