not a practicing one by any means any more, but I still do the ritual of Lent...with that being said, I still havent decided what I want to give up yet. got a few more hours to make up my mind.

Debt (using credit cards)
Certain books/magazines (read ones that will help you grow spiritually)
Social Media sites (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc.)
Computer use/blogging
Lying
Swearing/foul language
Addictions
Procrastination
Working overtime (unnecessarily)

Things Women could give up for Lent:

The radio (all the time, certain time of day, etc.)
Unnecessary spending (clothes, shoes, manicures, etc.)
Debt (using credit cards)
Favorite Foods (chocolate, pastas, etc.)
Sweets (candy, desserts)
Alcohol
Soft drinks/caffeine/coffee
Smoking
Eating out
Negativity/Stress
Procrastination
Gossip

Hmm from that list can give up
unnecessary spending
Oh I can give up red meat

I don't smoke, I don't drink soda, I don't gossip, I'm mostly honest, I don't eat out much.

I use light make up at work and I don't depend on any particular beauty products. My road rage has subsided considerably. I

I would love to give up stress and alcohol but as long as I'm in my current job I will remain stressed. I have to keep social networking for business purposes.

I usually pick two items to give up: one physcial and the other one spiritual.

I'm contemplating black tea...lawd knows I am addicted to the stuff and its torture if I go a day with out it.

-stress is a next one....but seeing as its tax season for me, I just dont know how i can work that one. lol Might be able to turn that one into saying no to people more often when they expect work to be done overnight and I stay up all night to get it done....hmmm. there is an idea.

Arent Anglicans the bastard step-child of Catholics, so sure!

(that is a joke BTW)

Nowadays I dont think any of that matters. Way back when I went to a Pentecostal church, they practiced their own form of Lent as well. They just didnt call it that but its still giving something up for 40 days, etc etc.
triniameri likes this.
