If Martin Luther King JR was still alive....

do you think anything would be different today? what do you think he would be doing? would he be a brother like rev. Al or Jesse Jackson?

What would Malcolm X be doing? would he be like Farrakahn?

I think if MLK was still alive, he would probably be doing what he did back in the Civil Rights movement.

As for Malcolm, maybe he would be like Farrakahn, but then again, I think he would have taught Islam correctly as he did before he was assinated, and not follow the "seprate but equal routine" as he did before.

Well, let's start with what we do know. If you take his work and speech in the last couple years of his life (which most people seem unwilling to focus on, for whatever reason), you will see that he was shifting his focus away from matters of mere civil rights and towards matters of economic rights and empowerment. You look at his famous "Beyond Vietnam" speech given in 1967, you note that when he was killed he was supporting a strike by sanitation workers, and you see the signs.

My opinion, my guess, is that as time moved on, he would've continued to grow more and more critical of the United States' and imperialism, and been unfairly labelled everything from a fascist to a communist....all the while adopting a more communal-based socialist approach to his activism. He would've joined workers-rights movements across the globe, and certainly would've been involved in the fight against South-African apartheid.

These days, he probably would've continued a world-wide approach to this kind of activism, but for some reason I think he wouldn't be living in the U.S. as he continued his work. Just a funny intuition. He'd be more relevant to activism than a Jesse Jackson, but may not alone, even with his great strength, been enough to stop the flow of imperialism across the globe.

All guesses and opinions of course.
