Haiti does not want to be pitied

When I tell my friends that I am spending my vacation in Haiti, the are doubtful and ask me if I mean "Tahiti?". No, no, Haiti. A country that makes you think of poverty, violence and lack of development.

(I apologize to the French-speakers if the translation is off).

Haitians never want to be pitied. They are too damn proud for their own good. It's the grandiose bourgeois complex they've got. From the richest down to the poorest lol.

When are you going to Haiti?

It's simple. People looking for something different. Not everyone wants to go to an all inclusive resort and eat the same stale food and do the same typical things. Some people like a little mystery. Some people like adventure and want to actually visit an underdeveloped country. Some people want to see our Unesco site amongst other things. The completion of our new airport in the North makes that possible. Plus, new hotels have been built, country now has tourist taxis, and some of the best nightlife.

It's already being listed on plenty of sites as one of the best places to visit this year.

I was half expecting you to say "haitian girls have fat um um and they only want jamaicans"

but idk if you only do that for people you perceive to be typically light skinned.
