Andy's "Garifuna Collective" Cd is great and so's Aurelio Martinez "Garifuna Soul" from a few years back. I wonder why we don't get recordings of roots music like this coming out of the english speaking islands. Is it because we don't have enough respect and or support for our own traditions or artists and producers don't think such projects are marketable. Whatever the reason, artists like Andy and Aurelio are performing and traveling worldwide and have put their communities on the map.

I was SCHEDULED (PAID FOR FRONT ROW TICKETS) at LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY back in MAY, but I was UNABLE to MAKE it.

Yes, GARIFUNA SOUL is an EXCELLENT ALBUM.

Whenever I hear this TRACK by AURELIO, it makes me APPRECIATE the GREATNESS of the CULTURE and of MAMA AFRICA

If this SONG doesn't MOVE U, whether you UNDERSTAND the GARIFUNA LANGUAGE or NOT, something WRONG with your SOUL.

LISTEN CHUNE.

Great video, Vincy. I like how modern maroon musicians from Colombia, Surinam and Central America have been updating their music with modern African influences. Youths worldwide may be enamored by 50c, Beyonce and the dreaded Snoop, but there's much more out there.

You CANNOT BEAT MUSIC of this NATURE.

It GOES DIRECTLY to your SOUL.
