    English language

So what are some words that do not exist in standard English that should? What are other things that you have noticed about English because you understand a foreign language or because you speak a dialect/creole/pidgin?

    Exmaple
I don't understand why there is no English word for "unnu". The plural form of "you" does not exist. You all or you guys or Y'all is often used but is not standard.

What are some things that you can express clearly to people from back home that you have to explain to Americans/Brits/Canadians?

There is no plural to "you" in English. "Cho!", "Ehhhh?" and "Hah" (when you give something to someone), should be in standard English

unno taxi deh - your taxi is here
weh unno deh?? - where are you?

yous is bad english spoken by folks who dont know any better.." thank all of yous" should be "thank you all".. i hate to hear that shit.. i feel like punching my italian neighbor in the mouth everytime he says that lol

What??? "Unu" is a plural for "You".... You is you, but you guys (or you two, all of you, you all/ya'll, etc...) is UNU

What I find funny is when people (atleast for Belizeans) say, "Unu tek care ah unuself".... Since "unu" is used to indicate plurality...

actually, you was originally the formal 2nd person pronoun, and thou was the colloquial form. It wasn't until the last 300 years or so that thou fell out of favour, even now in some parts of the UK it's still used instead of you.

It's similar to how some spanish and portuguese countries use vos/você instead of tú as the 2nd person pronoun, the formal form just shifted into common use.

i thought it was the other way around.. thou being formal and you being informal?

    @ akks? what??

if a jamaican mother talking to her children and telling them that their food is on the table.. she may say "unno food deh pan di table, mek sure unno wash unno hand dem before unno eat"... she is talking to them as a group.. so unno...
a non jamaican woman saying the same thing may say " your dinner is on the table so make sure you wash your hands before you eat"

so unno - you and your.. as in your (collective) dinner is on the table so make sure each one of you individually wash YOUR hands before you (collectively and individually) eat

and i doh kno wha belizeans does say.. i talkin bout jamaicans..
