    Domestic violence in the caribbean

FOLLOWING INCIDENTS IN TRINIDAD AND GUYANA. MEN KILLING THEIR WOMEN

A Jamaican woman has been chopped to death in Barbados.

She has been identified as 31-year-old Natoya Ewers, also called 'Chubby', of Gemswick St Philip.

The mother of three was hacked to death close to her home on Saturday in front of horrified witnesses about 7:30 pm.

Barbadian police reported that Ewers was involved in 'a violent altercation with a man' that left her with 'multiple chop wounds about the body'.

The police are now seeking a person of interest in connection with the macabre murder.

THE Vincentian man who chopped a 31-year-old Jamaican mother of three in Barbados is dead.

He has been identified as Anthony Michael Searles, 44, of Gemswick, St Philip.

Searles was captured by Barbadian cops at a house at Wotton, Christ Church about 7.45 pm Monday and told the cops that he had swallowed poison.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he died.

Searles attacked Notoya Ewers and hacked her to death near her home in Gemswick, on Saturday night.

Ah just think its westernization coming in to the Caribbean with western mentality being brought about onto the women, but what they seem to forget that this combative attitude do not work against men in the Caribbean that strongly believe in a patriarchy system. Everything from the culture, to man being the head and leading his community, much less country.when u are in the Caribbean where religion and the belief of Christ is the head of man and man is the head of woman, its not gonna work for the women down there, especially after decades of this belief and system. Now in Trinidad a study was conducted stating that women are more likely to succeed in that country if they were to open a business, or start some kind of venue because of the opportunities they have. Don't get me wrong i strongly believe in a woman's freedom and right to do whatever, but would not support the challenge to the normal family structure that has been in place since we can see perfect evidences of its affects here in the U.S. with the AA black family unit.

Should there be more laws on the books to protect women yes, just as much there should be laws protecting men as well, but the combativeness thing have to stop, its only going to lead to bloodshed since many of these men are already strong headed and would give u rell blows if u fuk around. All meh just have to seh is be careful.

Human beings can be such disgusting creatures. I wish everybody would just die sometimes.

Awww, it's ok.Lol. There are more good than bad, more heaven on earth than hell. I don't wanna die yet, don't wish it on me, please and thanks.

Good thread. Yes domestic violence is like molestation in the carribean in that people don't really talk about. I can't tell how many times I heard a woman from carib saying her man hit her/verbal abuse and then people ask why and then the advise is for them to stay because hes a "good" man and provide for the kids. It's a problem everywhere, let's talk about it, let's be about it. Don't judge him/her. They need help. We all need help lol.
