    Angry Are corporations people?

    Apparently they are.

Reporting from Des Moines— Campaigning in Iowa on Thursday, Mitt Romney told a heckler, “Corporations are people, my friend”—words immediately seized upon by Democrats in what they termed as a possible defining statement by the presidential candidate.

Romney, speaking to a crowd of hundreds at the Iowa State Fair, was being pressed about raising taxes to help cover entitlement spending. When one mentioned raising corporate tax rates, Romney responded by saying corporations were no different than people.

Where is Dollbabi? She's a trained lawyer. Perhaps she could give a better interpretation of the constitution.

It wasn't until the 19th century that the US courts deemed corporations as persons. This was contrary to what the founding fathers believed. In the early days of the country, corporations were identified as corprate charters, which are entities enacted by legislation. Why the US courts changed their definition as natural "persons" is beyond me.

Here is a clip you should watch, George. Noam Chomsky talks about corporate personhood.

They are legal entities that can enter into contracts and take people to court just like a person, yes. You can sue them as you can a person, and they can earn profits and losses like a person, they just can survive past the original creator's death unlike a person, and they have their own tax breaks and rules (just like a person).

    Etc.

Brownilus, that's the most dumbest thing I have seen you say.

Corporations are comprised of tons of people. Are all of them going to be called to testify in court for the corporatio, especially the shareholders?

Corporations are there to make money. That's the sole intent of it. That's not the intent of people. Corporations don't have the needs of a real human.

If you are being tried for a trial, wouldn't you have to bring your whole body?

There are corporations comprised of one person. What or who they are comprised of or why they are there doesn't change the facts of what I said they have the ability to do.

    Are schools people?

    What about labor unions?

    These are entities. Okay

They can't be sent to jail.

    You can't incarcerate an entity.
