Talking "Come Tuesday, we will beat up on Jamaica"

    CFU Women Final

“Come Tuesday, we will beat up on Jamaica.” It’s the boast which Trinidad and Tobago national women’s team striker Kennya “Ya Ya” Cordner hopes to deliver on tonight, when the Soca Princesses meet Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz in the final of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Caribbean Cup from 7.15 p.m. at Hasely Crawford Stadium.

This may just be the most exciting women football game to be played between two Caribbean teams.

If only your women's team was good enough I would agree with you however let’s examine the facts.

Panama did not qualify for the last senior Women's World Cup in 2011.
Nor has Panama qualified for the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship which will be played in four host cities in the United States from October 15-26.

The 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship tournament will qualify three teams directly to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015, with a fourth earning the right to face a South American country in a playoff. As host of the next Women’s World Cup in 2015, Canada has already secured its place in next year’s tournament.

The 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship will feature the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica (Group II winner in Central American Football Union (UNCAF) qualifying), Guatemala (Group I winner in UNCAF qualifying), and the four semi-finalists in the final round of the CFU Women's Caribbean Cup, which is Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti and Martinique.

So as it stands I don't think Panama has qualified for the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship while USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti and Martinique have all qualified from that tournament which will decide which 3 teams qualify directly to the Women’s World Cup in Canada next year.

A win for our team was expected especially as we were playing at home.
