I went from AT&T to T-Mobile and it took over a week, but that's not the norm (and they gave me a months credit for it)

In reality the porting of numbers from one location or device to another should be a seamless process to the user. Once Sprint gives Verizon or TMobile the permission to add your number to their DID range there should be nothing for you to do. It is a backend process which should take no more than an hour or two to complete.

I could make calls on the new phone right away. I got the phone at 8pm, and by 9 the next morning the new phone received calls. The guy said if I'd come b4 6pm it would've been a 4 or hours otherwise.

I went from Att to verizon and it took a few hours, I received numbers on my Att phone and had to make calls on my verizon phone during the switch.

I switched from AT&T to Verizon (best thing I did!) the first day the porting law came into affect, and it took 2 weeks (verizon gave me a month credit plus 200 extra mins.) My friend just ported from T-mobile to Verizon and she was able to call out on her new verizon phone immediatley and it took less than 1 hour for her to receive calls - so in all less than an hour.

I switched from Sprint to T-mobile and I could use my new phone right away. In about 2 hours I could receive calls on the new phone as well. Sprint can go to hell! :devil Yeah, T-mobile!

I switched from sprint to at&t the first day you could do this...sprint kept messing up and blaming at&t didn't get number moved to my at&t phone til 3 months later...that's like 6 letters to the FCC...both companies were nice enough not to charge for those 3 months though cause both kept messing up...so i had 2 free phones for three months cause at&t had given me a temp number to use for a while...i hope by now they have cleared up all their issues...
