Question Can you really teach kids to....

    "not see colour?"

It always confuses me when ppl say that.
    Am I misinterpreting something?

i think when people say "i dont see color".. it means that they prefer to judge people as individuals rather than just sum them up as basis of their race... like don't jump to conclusions based on stereotypes of race... however children will inevitably learn race relations whether you are the teacher or they learn it elsewhere... so it's better to address how things are in the world and also impress upon them your view.. so give them the normative view and the realist view...

I don't think we have to teach them that...i think they already born so....as they grow older they get taught about color by the greater society.....and maybe their own maturing brain.

In their first few years on the planet i think kids are oblivious to skin color....as they get older both their cognizant capability and the society at large teaches them the significance of skin color.

In regards to Kim K & Kanye baby, if the child is Kanye's color, people will make a big deal out of it. Society is really messed up. They'll make this child feel out of place for not having the complexion or hair type as its mother.

To solve that, KimYe and the Kardashian clan should go live in a cave in Siberia...never evvvvver to be heard from again.

You can TRY to teach them to look past it and see that EVERY color sucks EQUALLY and to TRY to deal with people as INDIVIDUALS but its much easier to let them become some little racist bastards like the rest of the world.

Agreed...I'm trying my best to not have her see color, and it's some of my family members and my MIL that always seem to bring up someone's race/or background. Reason why I try to have her around various cultures/races/backgrounds.

that is the best thing.. to interact with a variety of races.. so some cultural knowledge and less stereotypes can permeate..

My kids know i treat all people fair. I taught them and continue to teach them that jackasses come in all races. I teach them that most people are jackasses. Despite the majority of folks being jackasses there is a minority of people of every race that are genuine nice folks worth knowing.

100% correct. Well established by social scientists.
