Can you befriend someone who dont believe in God?

so we always had arguments on here about if people should befriend peeps who are gay, lesbian, whatever.

How about befriending someone who is atheist? I dunno about that, I feel like they lack a moral compass if they have no religious/spiritual beliefs.

Just had an argument with my friend and she is like "that ####################" (god) never do nuttin for me so why the f should I believe in him..so I was like who wakes u up in the morning...she was like "I wake my self up", she went on and on, and even started being bitter about her granddad dying, ok so now I am reevaluating my friendship with someone who is so bitter and moral less.

Most Americans are agnostic, so I don't know why being an atheist is considered taboo.

    i already am.

honestly i completely understand why someone would be an atheist. there is no evidence for the existence of God so whether or not one chooses to believe is an entirely personal matter, and if they decide they dont believe its cool with me.

but being an atheist doesnt mean you live a life without morals. honestly, humanity by and large has most of the same moral standards regardless of religion, so i dont see why it would matter

this is exactly what my friend was saying, but I feel like atheists are more or less prone to live without worrying about sinning, morality and integrity. So i asked her what is the purpose our lives, she said, "to party, have a good time and get wasted"

I never like being around people like that, growing up in TNT I was never exposed to people who did not believe in God, the first person who I knew that told me they did not believe in God was in secondary school, he was an English guy who migrated to TNT. I tried convincing him everyday that there was a god, because we (classmates) found it to be so weird and outrageous.

not quite, but the fact that i am a theist doesnt mean that i cant understand or acknowledge other people's doubts and disbeliefs. honestly, i think anyone who hasnt questioned their belief in a god or diety is either brainwashed or an idiot.

Why does one need religion to have any of those?

Life doesn't have purpose. The universe has yet shown us why we exist.

thats nonsense. no, athiests dont worry about sin because you cant sin if theres no diety. but they do certainly worry about morality and integrity like everyone else. and for the record, some of the worst human atrocities have been carried out in the name of religion and morality, so using the faithful as an example of a bastion of ethical behaviour is laughable.
