A "nourrice" is woman, usually from a lower class, who breastfeeds babies of women of higher societies because it was deem unfit for mothers of a certain standing to perform such task...

So it's not only about black women and slavery.

It never ceases to amaze me until today that whites thought of blacks during slavery days as such lowly creatures, yet had endless sex with blacks, had children with them, allowed their children to be breastfed by them, had their food: every meal cooked by them etc etc etc.

People at the top are very aware that they need those at the bottom. They simply see them as tools at their disposal.

Simply generations of delusion. Their willful ignorance grew into mental sickness.

the concept of a wet nurse isnt new or specific to blacks and slavery. Wet nurses have existed across many cultures over time, and still exists in small pockets in a few cultures even now.

Yep, some people can be simply selfish, narcissistic, or sociopaths or evil or consciousless, or a combination of all!

The image in question is part of a French postcard line depicting scenes and people in the Ottoman Empire around 1910.

    Here’s the original citation:
Type de « négresse » d’Adana Nourrice noire allaitante éditions G. Mizrahi, Adana, carte postale, 9 x 14, vers 1910

Most of this information is visible on the original, un-cropped postcard:

This image was taken long after the end of slavery, half a world away from America. It has nothing whatsoever to do with racism in the English speaking world.

While slavery did exist in the Islamic world, and was still practiced illegally in 1910, it was not racially-based as it was in the US. Any infidel (non-Muslim) could be enslaved and forcibly converted to Islam. Primarily they captured slaves in Eastern Europe, which is why to this day people from that area are called "Slavs". "Slav" and "Slave" are both corruptions of the Latin word "sclava" (captive). A black slave would have been very unusual in the Ottoman Empire, because most blacks in the region would have been born Muslims.
