Black, colored, n1gga, negro, African American, Afro Caribbean etc
It's a moving target which name doesn't offend them when it is never about the name.

They claim they don't want to be labeled when what they mean is they don't want to be categorized or more accurately, stigmatized.
Contrast that with Caucasians. Can hardly find famous white people who don't want to be identified as a honky.
cause white people dont really have labels. The issue is that a American, is synonymous with White American.

Caucasians have tons of labels themselves. A whole smorgasbord of crackas.
At the end of the day they still white.

Tons of different types of negroids as well.
And they still negro at the end of the day.

You can't say you're NOT Black because you mixed with something else. It's a distinction without a difference.

So I am ashamed for the black poet who says, "I want to be a poet, not a Negro poet," as though his own racial world were not as interesting as any other world. I am ashamed, too, for the colored artist who runs from the painting of Negro faces o the painting of sunsets after the manner of the academicians because he fears the strange unwhiteness of his own features. An artist must be free to choose what he does, certainly, but he must also never be afraid to do what he must choose.

Let the blare of Negro jazz bands and the bellowing voice of Bessie Smith singing the Blues penetrate the closed ears of the colored near intellectuals until they listen and perhaps understand. Let Paul Robeson singing "Water Boy," and Rudolph Fisher
writing about the streets of Harlem, and Jean Toomer holding the heart of Georgia in his hands, and Aaron Douglas's drawing
strange black fantasies cause the smug Negro middle class to turn from their white, respectable, ordinary books and papers to
catch a glimmer of their own beauty. We younger Negro artists who create now intend to express our individual dark-skinned selves without fear or shame. If white people are pleased we are glad. If they are not, it doesn't matter. We know we are beautiful. And ugly too. The tom-tom cries and the tom-tom laughs. If colored people are pleased we are glad. If they are not, their displeasure doesn't matter either. We build our temples for tomorrow, strong as we know how, and we stand on top of the mountain, free within ourselves.

    How ################ing pathetic are African-Americans?

Literally no one would consider him anything but white. They want him to go around screaming to the world that he is part black?

    See above

Tiger is only a 1/4 black. Whats wrong with him acknowledging all of his heritage?

    His daughter is 75% white.

Is he not as much black as he is white?

She is not even African-American. She was born and raised in the Caribbean.

    Is half white.

She is not African-American. Her mother is from Puerto Rico and her father is Dominican. She has said numerous times that she is Afro-Latina.

Why isn't it scandalous that that Miller dude is considered white when it is written that he is a black parent? Where is the storm about acknowledging all his genes and more? Where are the mixed defenders? Isn't he wrongly labeled?

Anyway, IMO there Black does only not refer to African-Americans. I am black and very far from being AA. Also, I find it curious that some folks takes issue with AA referring to themsleves as such claiming that they should only use American yet, it is ok for Afro-Latinos, Afro-cubans etc. Why?

Wentoworth Miller considers himself mixed and his father is only "black" because of the one drop rule.

The man sitting to the right is his father and the man in the middle is his uncle.

The woman sitting to the left is his aunt(his father's sister), her daughter, his sister and the man sitting next to him is his cousin.

You shouldn't force people to be black. Stop forcing labels on people. If someone wants to identify as mixed then that is their right.

my friend made a documentary about this very thing....racial ambiguity and passing

her family looks as white as these people, but they consider themselves Black....well at least the ones of our generation and before....her cousin who is a little younger...considers herself "multi-racial"

her cousin said something that resonated...she said "race is not only about the color of your skin, but your historical EXPERIENCE"

at the end of the day, you can try to "pass" all you want, but your experiences, even the past ones, cannot be denied....

People pass as black all the time. I have no issue with people wanting to pass as white.

More on the Raven Symone comment:
That's that #newblack syndrome add Pharrell to the list of people on that list

I think the new generation as been so acclimated to embracing the person and not having barriers based on race they're disconnected from the historic issues and struggles so when they say stuff like that they don't even get why its like HUH? REALLY?

In Hollywood its particularly prevalent because of the money and access they have. They seemingly have such a different 'black experience' from what they see on instagram on the news etc its as if they also are spectators on the black race much like whites.

PS Keyshia Cole does not know who her daddy is so all that biracial etc gtfoh
