    Being an indpendent woman........

is it highly overrated? And if you're not there yet,is doing everything for yourself a goal? ( or maybe, this is a black woman in Canada thing)

well ....being an independent black woman can be overrate yes...because when a woman becomes so invovled she looses sight of her man's goals then she is too much... I learned dis the hard way...I am usual independent yes...can make my own money...pay my own bills and dont need a man or woman to validate me...but I try not to get soo intense dat my vision of true happiness b/w man and women islost...so I agree to some point...

I pay my own bills...have my own car and home...but my mother has always taught us to be independant...she has also taught us that two heads are better than one! When you have a devoted partner things are easier financially at times. I think a lot of black women suffer from the Superwoman syndrome...

What do you mean by independent?? Like never plans on marrying? I'm an independant woman but marriage and children are definitely part of my plans...

Ok so whats so great about being a dependant.

Like perez pointed out the superwoman syndrome is what most who go to the extream suffer from, not indepencence, there is nothing wrong with claiming or wanting to be independant. It feels good to be able to handle your own bizniz

Yes, your right about that. That slackness syndrome comes from the way we are raised. Your mother teaches you all these things about being an independant women, but hardly teaches the son anything.
