    Bake N Shark

lawd why did you run cross my mind this morning while i was listening to the Court updates on the Shivo matter..

    here is an issue:

While i agree legally the husband has the right make the decision, and i agree that Congress has no right to get involved... i have a bit of a problem with taking her tube out...

Question... do you think there is a difference between taking a feeding tube out.. as oppose to taking someone off a respirator?

I think there is a significant difference...the Respirator is artificially keeping the person alive and in many cases it's the only thing keeping them alive.

The feeding tube issue is another bag of marbles altogether...but in this case, is one of the only things keeping her alive. Remember, she exhibits no brain activity on her own (unless I have my facts wrong).

hmmmnn...but what about the lack of brain activity? She's brain dead, so wouldn't that mean that she's not breathing on her own

the way they explained it is that she is really dehydrating to death. since we can go weeks w/o food but only a few days w/o water.

not like that makes it any better.

i think she has her own respitory function, ok she is brain dead.. meaning she has no cognitive ability, she can't talk, think, etc but the rest of her body functions independantly.. this is my whole issue ...

in any event i don't think the Supremos will grant Cert...

AHHH the wonderful media again.. just because you are brain dead doesn't mean other parts of your body do not fuction... the media is showing pictures of her blinking and what appears to be her smiling (all of which her doctors have said are involuntary bodily functions)

Oh OK. Wow. The body is incredible indeedy! But if that is indeed true ... then its also incredibly sad and I have no idea why they don't just allow the woman to go in peace.

But suppose she is trying to communicate but because of her low brain activity she can only achieve a blink every 8 hours or so ... ?
