How do the popular dishes in Haiti compare to the rest of the Caribbean. What are the main similarities and differences?

ummm i don't even really do a comparison because i find that haitian food and other carib food (i.e. ja, tnt, or bim) are quite different...there are a few similarities but i'd say that haitian food has more in common with hispanic cuisine...

and how does it compare? i'm biased so i can't give a fair judgement

    1) What Industries can be developed in Haiti?

    2) Do you think that the local government can be trusted with funds to develop the country? And if not who would you want to be in charge of the funds?

    Haitian food is yummy!

My question: I hear that Haiti is just as beautiful as the other Caribbean isles. Why hasn't tourism developed more?

for one...poverty in haiti isn't isolated. what i mean by that is that in mia for example, if you're in a nice part, ur in a nice part period...everything about it is nice and luxurious...while in haiti everything is mixed. so even if you're in the nicest hotel in a nice neighborhood, you step outside and go down d block to d market place and you may see some shacks and street peddlers....most ppl going to the carib do not want to be reminded of the realities of life for haitian....even with labadee, yo the place is far out the way and guarded to discourage the natives from coming. also the roads are sh*t...when i was going to okape which is in the north, we had to rent a truck...put a bed in d back and most of sat there....even though it was fun and funny but after a couple hours, the bumpiness of the road became annoying.

another things is that the media portrays haiti as the POOREST country on the western hemisphere, a voodoo land stricken with zombies, and portrays it as having lots of political unrest....
