Anyone ever gone through a Headhunter for a job?

I'm curious to find out about procedure in dealing with these HH companies. I have NO experience in these matters.

I recently got a call for a management position and I would like to know how to position myself for my maximum benefit.

What questions should I ask? What negotiating tactics should I employ?

    Quality feedback only please.

I've used them for my last couple of jobs. There's always some wiggle room in regards to remuneration.

Well I work in a staffing agency....just make them fall in love with you, that way when they pitch you and your resume to the client then you have a good chance of getting in. Even though it's an agency, your appearance and everything else still has to be on point, cuz if you don't look the part then they aint sending your resume no where. Also, if you have to pay anything GET OUT of there....

This whole thing would not have been an issue to begin with if these women were appreciated for what was in their heads and on on top it." - Hello BKLYN

I signed up for an online agency called "The Ladders" and they wanted money from me to send me on interviews. I just ignored all their emails since and they still pressuring me 7 months later.

Length of time, depending on what you're looking for. I try to keep mine to a year or so.

Madness. I've never had anyone ask me for money. They're paid by the company that hires you.

    Thumbs up

do your research on salaries for the position you're seeking.
don't be shy in negotiating your salary or even benefits.
if you'd like to work from home one day a week, let it be known.
get a headhunter who understands what you're looking for and the position in management you seek.
get a mentor and a sponsor as soon as possible and seek their advice often.
be honest and open with your headhunter about what you want.
ensure you're headhunter is eager about helping you be placed in the right position.
Be confident, dress and act like you belong in management.
    Good luck!

I heard about them, I think they have a commercial or something. Did you try Dice.com - Job Search for Technology Professionals. It's kinda like monster. Recruiters will find you through there also
