Forget that, I had a brown out followed by outage that wiped my poswer supply for my main computer. Ran down to best buy (the bastards) and three days later got another brownout that took the machine down again. I am not even gonna look at that machine until I get back from Antigua..

Twice in the evening last week, not sure about during the day my mother said we were having brown outs. She said she's sick of resetting "these muthafu*ki clocks" (lol). I'm not so sure about this week though.

Recently: twice last night, breaker has to be replaced which was done this morning.

Twice last year where once the whole side of my street was out, the other was about a good 12 blocks. All we did was grabbed the flashlights, open the windows, lit candles, put on the radio, put on those flashing earrings/necklace/etc that we got at Disney World and danced until the power came back on.

I wish, I live in the backwoods with a bunch of older people who have sticks up their butts. The fun was in my house, we just played cards and drank.

Brown out acoors when there isn't adequate power for the demand. It creates what is known as voltage sag. Most electronic equipment has specifice voltage tolerances so lets say your clock uses 120V but has a tolerance between 110 and 132 and voltage drops down below that, the unit will attempt to still function and pull power where there is an inadequate supply. The end effect in most cases is that part of the power supply burns out rendering your clock dead as a door nail. The burning smell normally accompanies that. If and when you start noticing things like that, it is recommended that you shut off what you are using and plug it out as either a brown out or a blackout can damage your equipment even if it is not on.
