Thumbs up Anthony Bourdain's Quest For The Perfect Meal.

    I really love Anthony.

You may know him from "No Reservations". He goes to all of these countries and what is great about Anthony is that he is truly interested in the food, the culture, the history, the people and how everyday people live. He is genuine and has so much respect for the people, cultures and food. He always passes on his lessons, while he's a confident New Yorker ... he's a very humble soul. I really love him.

He gets it! You cannot say that about a lot of people.

In April you can catch him on CNN as he's going to have a new show on the network.

I like his show as well, and for those very same reasons. Tip my hat to him and Andrew Z., some of the stuff I don't think I could try.

Boldest I've tried is cow heart in Argentina.

Why because he spoke out against Paula Dean? I agreed with him on that ... she was an irresponsible moron. Or because he takes a strong stance with respect to vegetarianism? Lol. I don't eat meat but I understand his perspective and agree with where he is coming from.

    What do you mean?

He sometimes comes off as trying to be too liberal....too hip...and too wordy....almost like he believes the hype that he is some sort of impeccable modern day wordsmith.

Zimmerman is a bit disgusting but i like him better....he comes across as more genuine.

Oh ok zeen. I'll check him out. I like culinary exploration lol... but only when done correctly. I like the chefs or people who do it with a true appreciation of the people, history, and culture... and who just get it.

I remember Anthony was breaking down the staples of a lot of African, Caribbean, and South American food to someone explaining that a lot of it is not only what they had access to, but things that don't require a lot of preservation... that combined with the richest spices and seasonings ... immense creativity... as well the love of the people and community ... it was a great way to break it down for his viewers who may have never had that kind of food or never got the connection between the similarities in the foods before.

Funny, I do not think Anthony tries to be hip, I think he doesn't think he's cool at all. He just gets it, he has a genuine interest in people and cultures, and honestly doesn't understand various forms of ignorance and prejudice that people harbour - he finds it stupid. He also doesn't like some of the things in Western society because he sees the world and sees what we prioritize and he finds it all very backwards as is normal for anyone who has left their own bubble. He doesn't deem himself a wordsmith he is just well spoken and articulate because he is a writer, then very blunt about his positions. I think what you don't like about him is his rawness ... but that is part of what makes him so genuine too.

I am going to see Zimmerman I am going to guess off the bat he is more "tame" or "controlled" which is what you like. Let's see.

Been a Bourdain fan for many years, and it's because he'll tell you straight up about what he doesn't like.

I do watch his show quite a bit...as i do zimmerman's...so part of me is a fan of sorts....its just that i don't feel totally comfortable with him....as i think he tries to hard to sympathize...tries to be on the side on the revolutionary too much. Its like being uncomfortable with a white person who preaches more black liberation than i do. But that's probably just my own distrust with liberals in general. Small thing...as i said i'm a bit of a fan...as its much better viewing than the crap that you find on network tv these days.
