This is something as a community we do not do

As a community... we don't talk about personal finances enough... we need to educate ourselves by asking questions and learning through discussion...

I personally know that we have some educated people in this field and real life experiences are good to...

So lets start it off... with the first question

How have you changed your spending habits during this recession?

i basically get the things that I really need and try to save as much a possible. Having a budget and sticking to it as much as possible has been quite beneficial.

Cut down on spending even more.
Made my eyes like Radar for sales.
Get some necessary items first from Jacks 99c store then shop elsewhere for the rest
Reuse my clothes over and over

What I need is more income.

Join the line i am first in the more income line and it long as HELL.

Well i gun say i try to cut down on spending and try to save more but yuh always end up doing some fine fine lil lil ting dat does end up eating out all yuh money.

It's the lil tings. My friend fix up he house, the roof, the side, den paint BLAM dat finish. Den he had to fix a door, two windows, put up two posts at the back etc and the fine tings end up costing more than the paint, roof and side of the house.

Made a budget...there is free software out there that would help you with this.
Assign a dollar amount for the month to as many items as possible, rent/entertainment/gas/clothes/food.....and ensure that you are saving a portion of your pay....no matter how small it is...in fact if possible have that portion come out automatically and go into a savings account even before you see your take home check. Gotta be vigilant about saving people.

this exactly what i do.. i have 3 Cd's that are maturing in 13,14, and 15 consecutively. I certain amount is taken out of my check every time i get paid, and once i reach $500 it is put into a 60 mnt cd.. great way to save.. this is apart from my regular savings and other investments.

in an effort to not stifle the economy anymore ive continue to spend. stopping our spending we push the recession along even further. thats why the government was pushing the stimulus/spending bills. But i was always putting away 10% for retirement and another 5% towards rainy days so my savings continue to grow as well. we have to have a good balance of both.
