    Haitian TWOUBADOU

This is a musical genre that I never fail to be amazed at how it remains virtual unknown outside Haiti/French Antilles....even in Haiti itself...it doesn't get the treatment/respect that is warranted by this beautiful, criminally underrated art form.

Here are a few tracks for your ears to enjoy:

Zenglen - Our Love Is Forever

T Vice - Tu Me Touches

    Alan Rose - Ma Rose

    Kassav- Pa Bizwen Pale

Feel free to add any tracks or twoubadou mixes you may have....considering this music is already hard enough to find.

Aaaaaahhhh the relaxing sounds of Twoubadou. At one point the Twoubadou movement really took over Haiti and the French West Indies. Every Konpa and Zouk song had a Twoubadou version to it. I love dancing to this stuff.

Here's a great one from Martinique

    Probably my favorite tunes

Ti sourit, ti sourit se nan pèlen ou rete
Rat ki rat se nan pèlen ou rete
Tèt zozo men pa ou, zozo kale men pa ou
M ap konyen fanm nan jis solèy leve
    Bwa m kale tou wouj
Kon piman , kon piman, Langyèt madivinèz
Ou pa bezwen chandèl pou ou klere l

Yes it's actually a combo of songs. They mix in Eric Virgal's "Se Pa Fot Mwen" and Harry Diboula's "Tu Me Manques" which are classic Zouk songs. Wicked mix indeed.

Yes they were extremely popular. You can still hear it in their music. Take this song for example, especially the dance break in the middle. Bel mizik

    Never heard this one before.
"Every onlooker is either a coward or a traitor." — Frantz Fanon

“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.” Frederick Douglass
