    1. Haiti
    2. Guadeloupe
    3. Dominica
    4. Martinique
    5. St. Lucia
    6. Guyane

Musically speaking that would be the order. 3 and 4 are the only ones debatable I think. Lucia and Guyane I would say had the least impact. Haiti definitely had the largest. They were off to an early start, had plenty of bands, with plenty of hits.

2 and 3 are not debatable for me because while Dominica had modified Kadans (Konpa) into Kadans-Lypso, it was really the Guadeloupe producers that took it and made an entirely new genre of Zouk. Gwada also has a larger slew of artists.

As for me saying 3 and 4 are debatable it's because Martinique technically had a lot more artists that had a larger impact. You have Malavoi (arguably one of the best French West Indian bands), Jocelyne Beroard, Eric Virgal, you can't tell me these people weren't running things. For that I think its debatable.

so the dominican producers didnt help create zouk as much as guadeloupe? boss u cannot mention zouk and not mention dominica...dominica is the smallest of all the countries mentioned in this poll so you cannot compare them in terms of quantity...but what about quality? kadence not only paved the way for zouk, but also soca and bouyon music. guadeloupe didnt invent zouk....they just made it more popular because of their bigger population. you are basing this on quantity rather than quality (which is fine also). go and ask kassav the biggest zouk band of all time about the origins of zouk music and see what they say about dominica

Where did I say that they didn't help? I don't deny that they did help.

boss u cannot mention zouk and not mention dominica

So what you can't mention Zouk or Kadans-Lypso without mentioning Haiti.

...dominica is the smallest of all the countries mentioned in this poll so you cannot compare them in terms of quantity...but what about quality? kadence not only paved the way for zouk, but also soca and bouyon music.

And the bands from Guadeloupe weren't putting out quality music? I don't deny their influence. I just think they took a backseat.

No I'm basing this on the quantity of quality tunes they've put out. And they've beat Dominica. They had a greater impact.

go and ask kassav the biggest zouk band of all time about the origins of zouk music and see what they say about dominica

I've heard from their mouths for years about the origins of Zouk music. I know about Dominica's involvement. It's not like we haven't discussed this here before.

    +1

I'd maybe put Dominica over Martinique because they've got a great deal of creativity in that tiny island, even tho they havent got many big stars. Martinique didnt really innovate Creole music but they've got a whole lot of heavy hitters

To help yourself understand just ask the question which had a greater impact Kadans-Lypso or Zouk? And yes I stand behind the statement that Guadeloupe popularizing it. Dominica always seemed too behind the scenes for me aside from Grammacks and Exile One. Guadeloupe's producers didn't necessarily do anything different either but their stuff were more popular. And your thread is about who made the greatest impact non? And as for Matinik they just supplied a bunch of great singers.
